God sent angel Gabriel to Nazareth where he sought out Mary, a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, and told her, “The Holy Spirit will come on you. The power of the Most High will cover you. The holy Child you give birth to will be called the Son of God".
Jesus was born in Bethlehem during the reign of King Herod the Great. He was born to Mary and Joseph, a descendant of King David. Though Joseph was married to Mary, he was not the biological father of Jesus as his birth was caused by divine intervention.
After Jesus left Nazareth, he went to Bethany where he saw a line of people on the banks of river Jordan waiting for their baptism by John the Baptist. John acquiesced and baptized Jesus in the Jordan River and as he lifted Jesus out of water they heard a voice from heaven proclaiming Jesus was the son of God.
Jesus was in Cana to attend a wedding ceremony when the family ran out of wine to serve the guests. At this point, his mother Mary asked him to do something. Jesus didn't think it was time yet for him to reveal himself, but he gave in to Mary's requests and converted wine to water to save the face of his hosts.
After preaching the Sermon on the Mount, as Jesus came down to the village a man suffering from leprosy approached him. While others moved back in disgust, Jesus touched the man and miraculously he was cured of his condition. Jesus asked him to tell no one about this, but the word spread and the sick flocked to Jesus to be cured.
In Bethany, Jesus had three close friends, Lazarus and his two sisters. When Lazarus fell ill, his sisters sent for Jesus. But by the time he reached Lazarus had been dead for four days. Pained by his loss and the grief of his friends, he asked for the tomb to be opened and said, "Lazarus, come forth." To everyone's surprise Lazarus walked out of the tomb alive.
After his successful return to Jerusalem, Jesus instructed his disciples to host a dinner. It is here that Jesus predicted that Peter will deny knowing Him three times before the rooster crows that morning, and that one disciple will betray Him. It was after this meal that Judas kissed Jesus and called him 'Rabbi', identifying him to the soldiers of the High Priest Caiaphas.
After the Last Supper, Jesus was arrested and tried first by the Sanhedrin, and then sentenced by Pontius Pilate to be scourged, and finally crucified by the Romans. He was beaten and whipped, and made to wear a crown of thorns before carrying the cross on his back to Golgotha where he was crucified.
